Cub Scout Pack 3387
  • Welcome To Pack 3387

Cub Scout Pack 3387 is based in Richfield, Ohio 44286. We are chartered by the Richfield United Church of Christ, and draw boys from Richfield, Bath, Akron and the surrounding areas from many religious affiliations. Matt Deliberato is the Cubmaster of Pack 3387 and Matt Cunningham is the Committee Chair. Notices about upcoming meetings and events are posted below, or click on a link to our detailed activity calendars on the right.

Hello Akelas!

This month’s core value is Health and Fitness: Being personally committed to keeping our minds and bodies clean and fit.

Cub Scouts will learn that it is important and easy to eat a healthy diet and how a fitness program can be part of their daily routine.

I would encourage everyone to spend some tome with their scout talking about the importance of Health & Fitness.  Get out and go for a walk, baseball practice, soccer practice, etc.

Den Leaders, I would ask you to talk about the core value at your den meetings.

Here is a list of events for the month of May:

  • Placing Flags at Richfield Cemetery – Saturday, May 19
  • Family Picnic – Friday May 25
  • Memorial Day Parade – Monday, May 28
  • Leader Meeting – Sunday, May 20 @ 7pm

Also, SAVE THE DATE for Cub Day Camp June 18, 19, and 20!

Do Your Best!

Matt D.

Pack Meeting ideas wanted.
I want to start this email with some thoughts on our pack meetings.  As you know, there are 12 core values in Scouting.  Each month, I want to focus on one core value for the pack meeting.  My goal is to send an email at the beginning of each month with the core value so that not only can the den leaders discuss it at den meetings in preparation for the pack meeting, but parents can discuss it with their scout, so our boys can really get a good sense of the importance of these values.
The pack meetings will involve songs, activities, and yes parent participation!  We used to give beads to the boys for attendance at pack meetings and den meetings, which I would like to start again.  The boys can also earn a bead for doing something nice for someone.  Any leader can award this bead and it will be recognized at the pack meeting.
This month’s core value is Faith.
The pack meeting is April 20
The district Pinewood Derby is April 21
A blessed Easter to all.

Blue & Gold Banquet

February 26, 2012

Pack,

I hope everyone wonderful time at the Blue and Gold Banquet!  Thank you for all the volunteers to make the night an exciting and memorable evening for the boys.

Please see the attached link to some of the PHOTOS from the evening.

Hello!

We hope everyone had a good time at our recent Pinewood Derby! Everyone seemed to have fun and there were a lot of neat cars! Cubs, if you would like to race some more, hold onto your pinewoods for the 2012 District Pinewood Derby in April. More details to come. Please check out our website http://pack3387.org/wp/ for photos and a list of our Pinewood Derby winners!

The Pack 3387 Blue & Gold dinner is a couple weeks away. Come and support our boys and the leaders. At the dinner, we will also celebrate our Webelos 2 den and many will then be moving on to Boy Scouts! We will have various guests there, we will recognize our sponsors, and hear about what each of our dens are doing.

The B&G dinner is sponsored by the Pack and this year will be located at Grace Church again (754 Ghent Road, Fairlawn, OH 44333). Bring the whole family! There is no charge for dinner. Cub Scouts, wear your full uniform! Dinner is at 6:30pm and the program starts at 7:15. During dinner, we’ll have the cake judging for our annual cake decorating contest. The theme this year is “Pirates”! Cubs, please use your imagination if you would like to decorate a cake (…the cakes will become our dessert afterwards). To plan for food, please let us know as soon as possible if you and any of your family are coming by either replying to this email or to cubmaster@pack3387.org.

Also at the Blue and Gold, we will be collecting the Annual Cub Scout dues as part of our Pack Recharter that occurs each February. Please bring $50 to sign up for the upcoming year that starts April 1st. We hope everyone is coming back! Please let us know if you aren’t or are unsure as the Pack has to make the membership payment in a couple weeks in February when it is due by the district. Friends of Scouting will also be at the Blue & Gold. This is an annual fundraiser for the council. Donations can be made that evening as well.

We have just updated our Pack calendar for our March Pack meeting and scheduled another fun visit to Kendall Cliffs for an evening of Indoor Rock Climbing on March 16th from 7pm-9pm. Kendall Cliffs is located at 60 Kendall Park Road, Peninsula, OH 44264. If there are any parents that are interested in helping us belay, please let Matt Deliberato know. There is a quick test for certification at Kendall Cliffs that can be taken a day or so prior to our event. The cost for rock climbing is $10 for Cub Scouts and $15 for siblings.

As the Web 2 boys prepare to move on, we would also like to thank those Webelos 2 parents and leaders who have helped out our Pack over the years! Tom Orcutt, having two son’s in the Pack, through the years has helped out as an Assistant Webelos Den leader, Lock-in Coordinator, and over the past few years, as our Pack Treasurer. Adrian Smith has been our Pack Chaplain and Religious Emblems coordinator. Ben Sprouse has been with our current group of Web 2 boys and has helped as Assistant Den Leader & Webelos Leader. And of course Don Kostar, also having two boys in the Pack, in addition to Cubmaster, has also previously been a Den/Webelos leader. They have done an outstanding job in each of their roles and have greatly helped our organization! We can’t thank you enough!

I’d also like to take this opportunity to update you on a number of our recent new Pack Leaders as well. Matt Deliberato is stepping up as our new Cubmaster in a couple short weeks. Matt Cunningham will take over my current position as our Committee Chairman. Mike Claus will be our new Pack Treasurer. Jeff Falter is our Membership and Registration Chair. Kim Flynn is our new Committee Pack Secretary, and Advancement Chair. Sarah Paulette-Samadi is our Public Relations Chair. Mike Procyshin is currently an Assistant Cubmaster. Also our Uniform coordinator is Alice Claus. Brenda Schult and MariAlice Nester are also our hospitality coordinators. I am really excited to have such a great group of people as part of our Pack! We are in good hands!

Pack,

This is my first attempt at posting some photographs for our activities throughout the year.  I will try to post 2 or 3 of the best photos and then have a link to our Picasa Gallery so that everyone can view all the photos.

As Co-Den Leader of the Tigers, I will be the first to admit that these photos might favor the Tigers.  However, I encourage everyone to email me their photos from ALL Den and Pack events and I will do my best to get them on the website!
